Simpson Family - 1976 Lancer 25 Restoration Project
Welcome to the ChampagneShore website. This site is dedicated to the purchase and restoration of our family's first sailboat. I have lived on the water all my life and worked with and on boats but never sailed. I have been telling my wife for some time that I wanted to buy a project sailboat to fix up and learn to sail. In April, 2011 we purchased a 1976 Lancer 25. She was a little rough but in overall good condition, solid and just right for the project I wanted. The family is excited about the project and with help from friends in the Fire Department and sailing community here on the Crystal Coast, we hope to have her launched in the Spring of 2012.
After having had purchased this boat, I quickly found that there was not much information out on the Lancer 25. I visited numerous websites and several forums and a lot of the people had the same questions as I, such as keel dimensions, trailer configurations, etc. So I decided to start a journal on the restoration of this project to share my family's experience as well as provide some information and resources to the many people out there like myself. I hope you enjoy browsing through this website and I believe you will find our adventures both educational and amusing. Fair winds and calm seas to all from the Simpson family.
